FAQ's
What is a Health Coach?
At the Health Coach Institute, a holistic health coach is defined as a trained professional who is a motivator, guide, accountability partner, inspirer, confidante, cheerleader, resource, champion for your personal success and well-being, and Master of Habit Change™—all rolled into one! We are passionate about healthy living and helping others to commit to healthier lifestyle choices by cultivating health and aliveness, helping them make needed change in their lives and step into the boldest version of themselves.
What is a Life Coach?
A trained professional who is a guide, cheerleader, accountability partner, confidante, and truth-teller who helps clients hone in on what they want and then works with them to set achievable goals to get there. We work with clients across 3 domains of well-being, helping them see (and step into) the boldest, most empowered and alive version of themselves.
The 3 domains Life Coaches address include:
Physical well-being
Emotional well-being
Cognitive well-being
Why would I need a Health or Life Coach?
Our role is to help clients set health-related goals, create an action plan to achieve those goals, break negative patterns and habits, and replace them with healthy ones that serve them. We work with clients to better understand their current experience (and how they got there) and empower them to create a different experience. We then help our clients to follow through with their goals by offering ongoing support, accountability, encouragement, and guidance.
What can I expect from a coaching session?
Our commitment during your private, weekly one-on-one sessions is to provide you with proper expectations, information that is relevant to your personal concerns and/or desires, practical and actionable steps, so you can stay out of overwhelm and in action. Additionally we will provide you with customized Done-For-You Materials Such As Checklists, Recipes, Handouts And More. *Should you need emergency email support between sessions we are happy to provide additional, no charge, aid via email.
What is your refund policy?
In the event of your absence or withdrawal, for any reason whatsoever, you will remain fully responsible for the entire Program fee and any unpaid balance.
This refund policy exists for your benefit as well, as coaching is a powerful process and at times, you may feel “up against a wall” or as if something isn’t working.
Feeling uncomfortable is often a perfect sign that you are releasing obstacles and limiting beliefs.
Our request is that any and all concerns regarding assignments and coaching be addressed directly with your coach, so that we can be the best coach and mentor to you that we can be, and ensure the coaching relationship is in integrity.
Working together, we will be able to make sure your needs are met.
How do the coaching sessions take place?
Clients have 2 options that may be either selected in advance, or customized by session based on the client's needs.
Video Coaching: This "face to face" meeting is our preferred session election. Programs such as Zoom, Google Hangouts, and Skype can be utilized. These programs also include a chat feature which allow real time sharing of documents, links, and resources pertinent to the coaching session.
By Phone: The coach calls the client directly and conducts their session followed by emails which include documents, links, and resources pertinent to the coaching session.
What is your cancellation policy?
You receive 1 “emergency reschedule” in your Program, which means you can cancel a session within 24 hours and still reschedule the session.
Any other canceled sessions with less than 24 hours notice will be forfeited.
Are there regulations to practice Health Coaching?
Health coaches trained by the Health Coach Institute help clients to achieve “habit change” via coaching and do not diagnose or treat disease, prescribe medication, or perform the functions of regulated clinical occupations. With a focus on habit change, the work of Health Coaches is highly complementary to clinical professions.
